David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez celebrate 8-7 win over the Minnesota Twins.

David Ortiz didn’t step up to home plate at Sunday’s Red Sox game, but he did spend the afternoon supporting the team — and wearing a 2013 Boston Marathon finisher’s medal — in the dugout.

‘‘A friend of mine that ran the Marathon gave it to me,’’ Ortiz, who had the day off, said, according to the Associated Press. ‘‘I wear my jewelry on different days. I just put it on.’’

Ortiz famously gave a speech at Fenway Park following the capture of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, in which he proclaimed “This is our f—ing city” on live TV.
