Red Sox reportedly agree to deal with top pick Jason Groome: According to multiple major league sources, Jason Groome, the team’s first-round selection (No. 12 overall), agreed to terms with the Red Sox in advance of Friday’s deadline to sign. The 17-year-old lefthander out of Barnegat (N.J.) High School received a $3.65 million bonus. (The Boston Globe)
Dave Dombrowski explains why Red Sox traded for Drew Pomeranz: “He’s a good pitcher,” Dombrowski said on a conference call Thursday night. “He’s grown over the last few years. He’s a very good pitcher, as shown by him pitching in the All-Star Game. Has three quality pitches, really changed the mix of his pitches.
