David Ortiz says he doesn’t want to be a manager, get gray hair

Managing a baseball team may be a bit too stressful for Big Papi.

David Ortiz is a leader and a mentor on the Red Sox. But he doesn’t appear to have plans to apply that skill set to a managerial role after he retires.

“I don’t really think that I could be a good manager, because I see that everybody, a year later after they start managing, their hair starts turning gray,” he said with a laugh after Tuesday’s All-Star Game. “I don’t know. Next year, I’m going to try to get a little unplugged. Just get my own schedule for the first time in about 24 years. And let’s see how things go.”
