David Ortiz says he probably won’t participate in Home Run Derby
David Ortiz knows his limits. He may have 16 homers this season, but the 40-year-old doesn’t think it’s wise to participate in the 2016 Home Run Derby.
“Nobody has asked me yet, but I don’t think that I would,” Ortiz told The Boston Globe recently. “The travel will be a lot and I’ll have commitments when I’m out there. It’s probably not a good idea.”
Ortiz won the 2010 Home Run Derby, where he hit an absurd 32 total homers. He leads designated hitters in All-Star voting with 1,460,339 votes, and has more than double the votes runner-up Kendrys Morales has.
