Brock Holt’s timetable for a return to MLB is unclear. The Red Sox utility man, who played much of the 2016 season in left field, will continue rehab on a concussion he suffered on May 9. Holt thinks he sustained the concussion on a diving attempt at a grounder.

His symptoms have lingered. For example, Holt told The Boston Globe that he noticed quick movements can make it harder for him to track down a fly ball.

“You’ve kind of got to retrain our brain again to focus like it’s supposed to and listen to the things that it’s supposed to listen to and do the things you want it to do,” Holt told The Globe in a story published Monday. “It’s a weird thing to have to go through, it’s a weird thing to have to kind of explain to people.”

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Sunday that it “would be optimistic” for Holt to begin his rehab assignment this weekend.
