Jackie Bradley Jr. received the AL Player of the Month award on Thursday.

The outfielder spent much of the month of May working on his 29-game hitting streak, which came to an end on May 26. Bradley had a .381/.474/.701 slash line in May, and racked up 37 hits, eight homers, seven doubles, 24 RBIs, and 17 walks.

“Well deserved,” Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters. “Outstanding month, outstanding player he’s turning into. He’s been a main contributor to date. I’m proud of him, I’m happy for him — he’s had a big day, even though he’s not here.”

The award came as a cherry on top of an already fantastic day. Bradley’s wife Erin gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday.
