What Red Sox Twitter would have been like in 1986

Mustaches. A whole lot of mustaches.

Last night, Boston had reason to party like it was 1999 thanks to a dominant 10-3 win over the Colorado Rockies, which extended the Red Sox’ AL East lead to two games over Baltimore. But the Red Sox Twitter account went back even further, opting to tweet like it was 1986.

On Wednesday, part of the Red Sox’ Twitter account was dedicated to the 1986 American League pennant-winning team, which was honored at Fenway Park.

And as the opening pitch neared, Fenway erupted in applause as the legends from the ’86 squad took the field.

Although the tweets opened up some old wounds for some, the overall response was positive, with fans reminiscing about a team that defined the experience of an entire generation of Red Sox devotees.
