Brock Holt will see a concussion specialist
Brock Holt, who was placed on seven-day concussion list, will see concussion specialist Michael Collins in Pittsburgh on Monday, according to The Boston Globe.
“Just to get a full understanding of what he’s dealing with,” Sox manager John Farrell told the Globe story published Sunday. “I think at that point, if there’s any changes to what his plan is, we’ll know at that time. But again, with these, as you know, there’s going to be a whole protocol that he’s got to go through and pass before he’s able to reengage with any kind of baseball activity.”
Holt thinks he suffered the injury on May 9 during the Red Sox’ 14-7 win over the Oakland A’s. While filling in for Dustin Pedrioia at second base, Holt made a diving attempt at a ground ball, and whipped his neck. Holt also suffered a concussion during the 2014 season, and was eventually shut down for the year.
“I went home that night and I was pretty dizzy at the house that night,” Holt told the Globe. “Pretty dizzy and light-headed and all that stuff. So I came in the next day and told the trainers. I thought I had a little bit of whiplash, so we were treating my neck. Once my neck started feeling better, but I was still getting dizzy and light-headed on the field, I knew something else was probably going on.”
