Red Sox’ Xander Bogaerts on red-hot offense: ‘This is kind of like Playstation’
The Red Sox’ recent offensive output has been so prodigious that Xander Bogaerts doesn’t even find it realistic anymore. After the team’s fourth straight game scoring double-digit runs, Boston’s 23-year-old shortstop could only compare the gaudy totals to a video game.
“This is kind of like Playstation,” Bogaerts said on Thursday night, via MLB.com, after hitting his third home run of the season and driving in three runs in an 11-1 win over the Astros. “Only teams on Playstation score this many runs.”
Via @SoxNotes, here are some of the numbers from the team’s recent torrid stretch:
This is only the second time in franchise history Boston has scored 11+ runs in 4 consecutive games overall (also 1950).

This is the first time in Fenway Park history the Red Sox have scored 8+ runs and recorded 12+ hits in 6 consecutive home games.

The Sox rank 2nd in the majors with a +58 run differential through 35 games. At the same point last year, Boston’s run differential was -29.

It’s not just a few hitters doing the work. On Thursday, seven Red Sox hitters recorded at least one RBI, and seven scored at least one run.
“We’re getting after it,” manager John Farrell said after the win, via The Boston Globe. “Guys are locked in for all phases of the offense. We’re in a good stretch; that goes without saying. It’s relentlessness up and down the lineup.”
