Morning Sports Update: Clay Buchholz: ‘I thought I got traded’ when John Farrell pulled him after 5 innings
Good morning, sports fans.
Despite a rough outing from Clay Buchholz, the Red Sox beat the A’s, 14-7, the Patriots make a trade, and a former Patriots player is involved in head trauma research.
Clay Buchholz: ‘I thought I got traded’ when John Farrell pulled him after five innings: “Not really, I didn’t really know what was going on,” Buchhloz said after a 14-7 Red Sox win. “I thought I got traded or something. I’d have liked to have gone back out for the sixth, but I’m not the manager. I felt good. I felt until the inning with (Stephen) Vogt up to bat, he’s one of their more dangerous guys. I threw him some good pitches to get through that at-bat and that inning. I wasn’t expecting not to go back out for the sixth.” (MassLive.com)
Jackie Bradley hits a grand slam vs. A’s: “I feel confident,” said Bradley. “You want to swing it more. It’s one of those things you want to keep going as long as possible. I think confidence [is the key] to anybody. Whether it’s a pitcher, hitter or just in everyday life. You’ve got to be confident in what you’re doing or more than likely you’re not going to succeed.” (RedSox.com)
