Mookie Betts mashes a two-run homer for the Red Sox’ first runs of the 2016 season

Mookie Betts wasted no time getting his first homer of the 2016 season.

In the third inning of the Red Sox’ Opening Day matchup against the Indians, the 23-year-old outfielder hit a two-run homer to put the Sox on the board. The homer, which came in Betts’s second at-bat of the season, drove in Jackie Bradley Jr.

Betts finished the 2015 season with 174 hits, 18 homers, 77 RBI, and a .291/.341/.479 slash line. He has the fifth-best odds to win the AL MVP award.
