At last, the Boston Red Sox are playing baseball games again.

Spring training exhibitions begin today, as the Red Sox will take on two Boston area collegiate clubs in a Monday afternoon doubleheader at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers, Fla. The team will play Boston College at 1:05 p.m, followed by a matchup against Northeastern University shortly after.

The Red Sox and Boston College go head-to-head for the 24th consecutive year and 26th time overall, while the contest against Northeastern will mark the 14th time the two teams have met. Both teams have never defeated the Red Sox, but each lost by just one run in last season’s exhibition games.

Knuckleballer Steven Wright is slotted to be the starting pitcher against the Eagles and non-roster invitee Sean O’Sullivan will start the second game against the Huskies. None of Boston’s projected five starters — David Price, Clay Buchholz, Rick Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez, or Joe Kelly — will throw in either game, the Red Sox announced.

Righthanders Justin Dunn and Brian Christian will start on the mound for BC and NEU, respectively.

Many familar names will play against Boston College, inlcuding Hanley Ramirez, who will get his first in-game reps at first base. Brock Holt and Travis Shaw will highlight the Red Sox lineup against Northeastern, however, as the team will be taking a look at several of its reserves and minor league invitees.
