Witness the power of a hug

The “war’’ is officially over.

David Ortiz and David Price have harbored bad feelings for one another in the past, but it appears the squabble was nothing a hug couldn’t solve.

“I got your back. Let’s roll,’’ Ortiz said after greeting Price Monday morning at Red Sox spring training.

In 2014, Ortiz declared “war’’ between the two players in a postgame interview. The animosity stemmed from an at-bat in the 2013 ALDS, where Ortiz stood in the batters box to watch his second homer of the game. In 2014, Price pegged Ortiz, which spurred angry rants by both players.

“No problems. All that’s in the past. Now he is my partner,’’ Ortiz told 102.5 FM in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in Dec. 2015, via ESPNdeportes. “When a person joins your cause, you must leave the past in the past.’’

And since joining the Red Sox in free agency, Price has made it clear he’s buried the hatchet.

‘‘I’m ready to be his teammate and his friend,’’ Price told reporters on Sunday. ‘‘That’s what I’m looking forward to. I want to be accepted by all my teammates and that’s something you need to have if we want to get to where we need to be.’’
