Yoan Moncada ranks as No. 7 overall prospect by Baseball Prospectus
Four Red Sox propsects cracked the Top 101 list.
The Red Sox may have stars in the making. Second baseman Yoan Moncada is ranked the seventh-overall prospect by Baseball Prospectus. Red Sox prospects third baseman Rafael Devers (17th), oufielder Andrew Benintendi (25th), and pitcher Anderson Espinoza (39th) were also ranked in the website’s recent “Top 101’’ list for 2016.
In 81 games single-A games with Greenville Drive, Moncada batted 278/.380/.438/.817 with eight homers, 38 RBI, and 49 stolen bases.
The website’s scouting report of Moncada says he “shows glimpses of five tools and physicality/athleticism beyond his years.’’ However, he needs to turn those glimpses into consistency, according to the report, and must to put in work to apply his skill set to the majors.
