SNL’s version of David Ortiz has big plans for retirement … and lunch
Kenan Thompson’s jubilant, endorsement-promoting impression of Red Sox slugger David Ortiz returned to Weekend Update on Saturday night to celebrate Big Papi’s plans after he retires next year.

“I still sponsor ship… I sponsor ships,’’ Ortiz told Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost. “It’s a commercial I do. Ships — you want to get somewhere slow and soaking wet? How ‘bout a ship? It’s like a plane, but bad.’’
Thompson’s take on Ortiz first appeared on Weekend Update after the Red Sox designated hitter was embroiled in a minor controversy after he took a selfie with President Barack Obama.
