Reigning U.S. Open and Masters Tournament champion Jordan Spieth will have the crowd on his side for this weekend’s Deutsche Bank Championship following comments he made before throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park Monday night.

Spieth may be a Texas native and Rangers fan, but the team he calls his second favorite is near to this region’s heart:

“After the Rangers, I root for the Red Sox,’’ he said before throwing out the first pitch. “And I always root against the Yankees.’’

Not only is Spieth among the best golfers on the planet, his arm isn’t too shabby, either – at least in comparison to one of his recent predecessors.
