Jackie Bradley Jr. fires from left field, embarrasses Greg Bird at home plate
Jackie Bradley Jr. is the Red Sox’s ruler of left field.
With one out in the top of the fourth inning Monday night, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees were tied at 2-2 with the bases loaded. Jacoby Ellsbury hit a low fly ball to left field on an Eduardo Rodriguez fastball. As Greg Bird tagged third, Bradley Jr. got under it, and fired the ball home.
Bird didn’t stand a chance. Catcher Ryan Hanigan wrangled the throw and dove into Bird’s legs for the double play, ending the inning and keeping the score tied. Monday’s game finished with a 4-3 Red Sox win.
