The Cranston Western Little League team is headed for the Little League World Series to represent New England.

Cranston Western defeated Bedford, New Hampshire, 10-4 Sunday in the New England Regional final at Bristol, Connecticut.

The Providence Journal reports it’s the third time in five years and the seventh time overall that a Rhode Island team will be going to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Cranston Western also went to the World Series in 1996, when it won the U.S. championship and was runner-up for the title behind Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei.

In Sunday’s game, Nick Mason had a grand slam for Cranston Western in the top of the third and Jake Bender had a three-run double with two outs in the sixth. The team had battled back this week after losing to Connecticut on Monday.
