Watch Shane Victorino’s emotional farewell Red Sox press conference
Saying goodbye wasn’t easy for Shane Victorino. The veteran is going to miss his teammates.
“I looked forward to going, honestly, to Anaheim and getting an opportunity to make a postseason run. You know, I wish nothing but the best for the guys here. That’s the toughest part,’’ Victorino said before shedding some tears. “People doubted me in 2012 until the Red Sox gave me a chance. And to win a World Series, it’s one of those things.’’

After three years with the Boston Red Sox and an unlikely World Series win in 2013, Victorino’s time in Boston has come to an end. On Monday, the Angels acquired Victorino and sent infielder Josh Rutledge and cash to the Red Sox.
Victorino did not play in Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox. With the Red Sox, the outfielder had a .267 batting average with 18 homers and 77 RBIs.
He quoted his iconic walk-up song, “Three Little Birds,’’ in his farewell tweet.
