Thousands have played, coached or influenced professional baseball since it emerged in the late 18th century, but just 310 have been inducted into its most exclusive club: the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
With so few players and personnel from the sport’s long history enshrined, even a storied franchise like the Red Sox is going to have some of its greats left out.
