Report: Rangers discussing trade for Philly’s Cole Hamels
It’s well known at this point the Phillies are looking to kickstart their rebuild by dealing their best asset, pitcher Cole Hamels.
Months since the Red Sox reportedly balked at the Phillies’ high price, a new suitor for the lefty has emerged: the Texas Rangers.
According to Fox Sports’ Jon Morosi, the Rangers are in talks to acquire Hamels, who is said to be willing to waive his no-trade clause to go to Texas. Morosi has not indicated whom the Phillies might want in trade.
Hamels is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career, standing at 5-5 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 14 starts.
Hamels also recently told The New York Post he would waive his no-trade clause to become a Yankee, though the teams haven’t yet been tied together in trade discussions.
