No, Manny Ramirez did not name all three of his sons ‘Manny’
Manny Ramirez, the former Red Sox slugger who is now a consultant in the Chicago Cubs organization, has two sons named Manny.
But contrary to an article by Paul Hoynes on Cleveland.com, Ramirez does not have a third son that goes by the same name. In an interview with the slugger on the topic of his Hall of Fame credentials, Hoynes writes, “Ramirez has three baseball-playing sons. He named them all Manny. The oldest is a first baseman for the University of San Francisco.’’
That oldest son, Manny Ramirez Jr., is projected to start for USF in 2015, according to the New York Times. The middle son, Manuelito, was born in 2003. And the youngest son is actually named Lucas, born to Ramirez and his wife Juliana, in 2006.
Ramirez naming his three sons Manny would be so Manny, though.
Correction: A previous version of this story reported in error that Ramirez had three sons named Manny.
