Red Sox prospect Yoan Moncada is set to begin his minor league career with the Single-A Greenville Drive of the South Atlantic League. The team announced the 19-year-old is slated to be in the lineup in Greenville against the Kansas City Royals’ Single-A affiliate, the Lexington Legends, at 7:05 on Monday evening.

“Yoan Moncada is one of the most highly-touted prospects in recent memory, so to have him on the Greenville Drive roster is a huge thrill for our organization,’’ Drive GM Eric Jarinko said via MiLB.com. “Our fans have seen the impressive talent the Red Sox have assembled in Greenville to begin this season, and we can’t wait to see him on the field as he begins his professional journey with the Drive.’’

Moncada is a switch-hitter and has been playing second base in extended spring training. The Cuban star officially signed with the Sox on March 12 after agreeing to terms on a historic $31.5 million deal.

“Having Yoan Moncada begin his professional game action at Fluor Field is an exciting development for the Drive organization and our fans,’’ team owner and president Craig Brown said. “Our fans have been awaiting his arrival in Greenville all season long, and he will bring even more talent to a roster already filled with quality players and individuals.’’

The Drive, 21-15 on the season, have won six games in a row and lead the Southern division of the SAL by two games over the Yankees’ affiliate Charleston RiverDogs.
