Watch David Ortiz Get Ejected After Arguing With Umps Over Check Swing

Big Papi wasn’t happy. The Boston Globe

David Ortiz is an intense guy and that facet of his personality was on display in full force Sunday.

The slugger attempted to check a swing in the fifth inning, but it was called a strike by third base umpire Jerry Meals. Ortiz got in home plate umpire John Tumpane’s face about the call and was ejected moments later. He tossed his equipment in frustration as he headed to the locker room.

According to NESN, Ortiz had previously argued a call with then-home plate umpire Paul Emmel, who was replaced by Tumpane in the fourth inning after Emmel suffered an injury.

The display falls a few notches below his infamous 2013 phone assault on the tantrum meter, but still ranks as an impressive hothead moment.
