The Sunrise Over Fenway Park This Morning Will Get You in the Mood for Baseball

We deserve this.

The first day of spring was technically March 20, but it’s felt like winter here pretty much until this weekend, when temperatures rose into the 60s. To provide some perspective on how cold and awful it’s been, yesterday I saw my neighbors across the street for the first time since Halloween.

They’re playing a baseball game over on Yawkey Way today, the surest sign of spring yet. Red Sox team photographer Billie Weiss captured the old ballpark as the sun was rising this morning.

Weiss says he took the picture around 6:30 a.m. The Red Sox posted this photo of the park a little later in the morning.

First pitch between the Red Sox and Washington Nationals is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. The temperature is expected to approach 70 degrees by gametime.
