The power is on.

With home runs accounting for all their scoring, the Red Sox rolled to a 8-0 Opening Day win over the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Monday afternoon. Both Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez hit two home runs in the offensive explosion. The latter capped the impressive win with a grand slam in the final frame.

With one out in the top of the first inning, Pedroia opened the scoring with a solo shot off Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels, a potential trade target for the Sox.

Hamels departed after the fifth inning with the Phillies trailing, 4-0. While Hamels struggled, Clay Buchholz excelled for the Red Sox. Buchholz gave up just three hits while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings.

The Red Sox tacked on four additional runs in the top of the ninth when Ramirez struck again. With Philadelphia reliever Jake Diekman on the mound and the bases loaded, Ramirez capped the rout with a grand slam.
