Dustin Pedroia Crushed the Red Sox First Home Run of 2015
It didn’t take very long for Dustin Pedroia to put on a Home Run Show.
Pedroia hit a home run on the third pitch he saw in 2015, turning on a pitch from Philadelphia Phillies starter Cole Hamels on Opening Day for both teams. The solo homer staked the Red Sox to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning at Citizens Bank Park Monday afternoon.

In the top of the fifth inning, Pedroia went deep again. His second solo home run of the day off Hamels pushed the Boston lead to 3-0. Mookie Betts accounted for the team’s second run with a home run off his own in the third.

Pedroia, 31, hit just seven home runs during the 2014 season while dealing with a left hand injury that eventually required surgery. He didn’t tally his second home run of that season until May 11.
