The Yankees Twitter Account Is Pretty Much Ignoring A-Rod’s Existence
If you only get Yankees spring training updates through the team’s Twitter account then you may be surprised to learn that Alex Rodriguez is back in pinstripes and participating in Grapefruit League action.
You certainly didn’t hear about his home run off Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman in a spring training game on Wednesday from the @Yankees account, which was live tweeting updates on the action at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
As noted by The New York Daily News, that account has only mentioned A-Rod’s name once all spring, in a tweet listing a lineup.

A Yankees spokesperson told the Daily News that A-Rod’s absence from all game-related tweets that the team account pushed out on Wednesday was an an “unintended error.’’
That explanation might go over with these fans about as well as A-Rod’s many apologies.

As most followers of the account know, Rodriguez was suspended for the entire 2014 season due to “overwhelming evidence’’ connecting him to the Biogenesis clinic and performance enhancing drugs.
Since the Yankees aren’t likely to ever remind you, Rodriguez is owed at least $64 million over the next three years. We’ll see if the Yankees can find it in their hearts to tweet him a happy 40th birthday in July.
