Ryan Raburn Makes Maybe the Worst Throw in Baseball History

Cleveland Indians' Ryan Raburn. AP

Indians outfielder Ryan Raburn made a great attempt at a fly ball in Thursday night’s game vs. the Kansas City Royals, but his subsequent throw left much to be desired.

Raburn dove for a ball of the bat of Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas and missed, preventing the ball from rolling all the way to the wall and seemingly holding Moustakas to a double. All Raburn had to do was hit the cutoff man.

Welp.

Raburn threw the ball directly into the ground and watched it roll to where none of his teammates were standing. Moustakas ended up scoring on the play. Adding insult to injury, Indians pitcher Corey Kluber took a perfect game into the seventh inning. This play broke the scoreless tie.

“It was a freak play,’’ Raburn told the AP. “I was trying to hold up. I saw our infielders going toward third, and I tried to hold up. I couldn’t and of course the ball rolls halfway to center field.’’
