Red Sox to Honor Championship UConn Teams
The Red Sox will honor the University of Connecticut’s men’s and women’s NCAA Championship teams before Tuesday’s game at Fenway Park.
Guard Shabazz Napier, a Roxbury native, will throw out the first pitch before the game vs. the Yankees for the men’s team, with Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis representing the women’s team. Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend the ceremony.
The UConn men’s team defeated Kentucky, 60-54, to secure the program’s fourth national championship. The women’s team won its ninth title, the most ever in the women’s game, with a 79-58 win over Notre Dame.
