Red Sox place Will Middlebrooks on DL
The Red Sox placed third baseman Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a right calf strain. Brock Holt was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his place on the roster. Middlebrooks was scratched from Saturday night’s lineup before the game. He started each of Boston’s first four games of the regular season, going 3-for-13 (.231) with two runs, a double, a home run, an RBI, and a walk.
