‘Tek sighting
Through much of the offseason, it was uncertain if longtime catcher Jason Varitek would be back with the Red Sox.

He did eventually return, of course, signing a one-year contract (with an option) Jan. 30. But it’s always nice to have photographic proof, and so here’s the first official sighting, courtesy of Globe photographer Jim Davis, of the Red Sox captain at today’s workout at the Red Sox’ spring training complex in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Varitek plans to meet with reporters tomorrow, probably around 11:30 a.m. Should be interesting stuff.
