Walpole loses in LLWS
It’s not the Red Sox, but we wanted to pass along some local baseball news that might be of interest to Sox fans.
Walpole fell 1-0 to a team from Lake Oswego, Ore. today in the Little League World Series in Williamsburg, Pa. Walpole is now 1-1 after a dramatic victory Friday against a team from Ohio.
Walpole and Lake Oswego were in a pitcher’s duel today for five innings. Mitch Lomax held Walpole to just two hits on the day. Lake Oswego had six hits in the game but could not plate a runner through five.
With the teams tied 0-0 in the sixth inning, first baseman Reid Penney hit a solo-home run to give Lake Oswego a 1-0 lead. They would win by that score.
Walpole is still alive in the Little League World Series. They face Georgia at 6 p.m. Monday in their third game of pool play.
