Mirabelli to DL
Theo Epstein said between games that catcher Doug Mirabelli would be placed on the 15-game disabled list with a strained right calf. The Red Sox have also purchased the contract of Kevin Cash. Clay Buchholz was optioned back to Pawtucket to make room for Jacoby Ellsbury.
Cash’s flight from Ottawa is expected to arrive in Boston around 7:50 p.m. “No police escort,” Epstein said regarding Cash’s transportation to Fenway.
