Boston Red Sox

Five in the hole

And so, that’s that.

Faced with the most pivotal series of the season, the Red Sox were outright embarrassed by the Yankees, swept five straight games, today’s 2-1 loss the end of an extremely frustrating, and long, weekend for Boston.

As Mark Loretta made the final out of the game, lining out to New York second baseman Robinson Cano, the boos came, echoing throughout Fenway Park, which has to go back as far as 1978 to remember a stretch in which the home team looked this bad against their rivals.

We’ll have some reaction in a bit from what is sure to be a somber Red Sox clubhouse.
