Reason to smile
NESN cameras caught Jason Johnson with an ear-to-ear grin after Mark Loretta started a nifty double play in the fourth inning, erasing Alex Rodriguez’s leadoff single.
Johnson has pitched well since the first. In fact, the only jeering the crowd has done lately, other than for the Yankees, was when the ball girl down the first base line misplayed Jorge Posada’s foul ball, diving to her right aimlessly as it bounced off the tarp.
Still 1-0 headed to the bottom of the fourth.
Four hits for the Sox today, all doubles. Two by Loretta, two by Hinske.
