Boston Red Sox

Double debut

Eric Hinske and Mark Loretta’s three double days today make them the first teammates since Cleveland’s Einar Diaz and Milton Bradley to accomplish the feat in 2002. Hinske’s three doubles make him the first Red Sox player to hit three extra base hits in his debut since Gabe Kapler in 2003 against Florida.

They’ve taken away Eric Hinske’s error in the top of the inning and credited Derek Jeter with a single.

Perhaps that will help take your mind off the fact that the Red Sox have lost Game 1 to the Yankees, 12-4. Kevin Youkilis’s double drove in Kapler for the ninth-inning score. We’ll have some reaction in a bit.
