Boston Red Sox

A mascot tour

A truly special moment just now at Fenway, where the Red Sox showed a montage video on the JumboTron of Wally the Green Monster and Mr. Met enjoying all the famous attractions of Boston. We kid you not.

  • The Red Sox signed compensatory draft pick Caleb Clay today. Clay, a righthanded pitcher out of Cullman High School in Cullman, Ala., was the 44th pick overall in this year’s draft. He was 10-1 with a 1.29 ERA and five saves for Cullman this season and also hit .475 at the plate.

In addition, the Red Sox signed their seventh-round pick, shortstop Kristopher Negron out of Cosumnes River College, and signed undrafted free agent lefthanded pitcher David Timm from Embry-Riddle College. All three players were assigned to the Gulf Coast Red Sox in the Rookie Gulf Coast League.

  • Pawtucket lefty Craig Breslow was named to this year’s International League squad for the Triple-A All-Star Game. Breslow is 5-1 with a 3.23 ERA and five saves for the PawSox.
