Orel Hershiser, here as a color analyst for ESPN, was in the press box men’s room about 90 minutes before game time, standing in front of the mirror applying makeup to his face. It is a process that he seems to still be getting used to.

“From pine tar to makeup,” the former Dodgers, Indians, Giants, and Mets pitcher said with a sigh.

Hershiser joined ESPN in February after resigning from the front office position he had accepted less than four months earlier with the Texas Rangers. He was the Rangers’ pitching coach from 2002 until last season.
