Yanks in the lead
News flash: With runners on first and second and one out in the third, the Yankees already plating two runs in the frame, and threatening for more, A-Rod struck out.
Damon is already 2 for 2 against his former teammate Wakefield, and has scored two of the Yankees’ three runs. Derek Jeter, who hits Wakefield well, drove in a pair with a base hit into center field.
The Red Sox have been hitting some rockets off Jaret Wright, but to no avail. Despite putting runners on first and second in the second inning, they failed score, and went down on just seven pitches in the third.
