Bit by bit
The Red Sox end up getting a little closer on Manny Ramirez’s bases-loaded hit, but still trail the Yankees by two, 7-5, heading into the ninth with Jonathan Papelbon coming on to try and make sure it stays that close.
Perhaps some overlooked good news for the Red Sox would be the outing David Riske had in the eighth inning, pitching a perfect frame in his first game since coming off the disabled list.
