Boston Red Sox

Escape artist

Through three innings of work, Yankee starter Jaret Wright has played the role of escape artist. Wright has allowed just a pair of hits and one run, but he has walked four Red Sox batters, including loading the bases in the third inning.

Of Wright’s 62 pitches, only 29 have been for strikes.

— Mark Bellhorn was inserted into the game at shortstop for New York to start the fourth inning and was greeted by a combination of cheers and jeers from the Fenway crowd.

— As the Indians continue to lose to Chicago (3-1 in the 7th inning), many New York media members in the press box are starting to look for airfare to Los Angeles, where the Yankees would start the ALDS this week.
