The MBTA recently announced its schedule changes for the 129th Boston Marathon on April 21.
In order to avoid overcrowding, the MBTA is closing train stations in some areas and increasing bus and rail service in others.
The Boston Athletic Association also gave details on road closures in cities and towns that the route runs through.
Here is all the changes you can expect on race day:
Hopkinton — 7:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Ashland — 7:15 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.
Framingham — 7:30 a.m. – 1:55 p.m.
Natick — 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Wellesley — 8:30 a.m. – 3:35 p.m.
Newton — 8 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Brookline — 9 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Boston — Variable – 7 p.m.
Copley Station — Closed for the whole day.
Kent Street — 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
South Street — 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
St. Mary’s Street — 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Riders are encouraged to use Arlington, Prudential, and Hynes Convention Center on the Green Line, or Back Bay on the Orange Line. The Red, Orange, Green, Blue, and Silver lines will have additional service before and after the race.
The MBTA may adjust service by temporarily closing stations near the finish line in the interest of public safety.
The Framingham/Worcester Line will have special service on Marathon Monday with additional inbound and outbound trains. All other lines will have regular schedules.
Bikes and scooters will not be allowed on board Framingham/Worcester Line trains starting at 5 p.m. on April 20 through the end of service on Marathon Monday.
Commuter Rail riders are encouraged to buy the $10 Holiday Weekend Pass, which allows unlimited hop-on and hop-off travel from April 19 to April 21.
Here are the bus services that are closed or limited:
Saint James Ave. (outside Copley Station) — Out of service, riders are redirected to Saint James Ave. @ Clarendon St.
Routes 55 and 65 — Closed for the whole day.
Routes 8, 9, 10, 43, 51, 57, 60, 62, 86, 94, 95, 101, and 350 — Detoured or shortened.
Here are the bus lines with increased or altered service:
Route 1 — Increased service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with buses arriving as frequently as every five minutes.
Routes 7, 501, and 504 — Increased Saturday schedule service.
Routes 47, 59, and 66 — Each splits into two routes.
Both The RIDE and Ferry services will operate on a regular weekday schedule, but The RIDE may adjust service to accommodate marathon events.
The MBTA encourages drivers to park at an MBTA station and take the subway or commuter rail to spectate the race.
Daily parking rates are between $2 and $15, and drivers can pay using the PayByPhone app, or pay by invoice.
