This year’s Boston Marathon, like always, is expected to have throngs of cheering spectators. As such, the Boston Athletic Association has released a list of banned items for spectators to ensure safety on race day.
Security checkpoints are expected to be in certain viewing areas, and spectators may have their bags and personal belongings checked.
“The B.A.A. does not implement security policies,” it says on its website. “Anything you attempt to bring into a secured area, despite descriptions below, is subject to the discretion of law enforcement officials.”
