Travis Clarke is running for his mother
"My mother has been battling Leukemia for over 25 years, having entered remission three times, but the disease has come back."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your #WhyImRunningBoston story here.

Travis Clarke is running for his mother, who has leukemia, and in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Name: Travis Clarke
Age: 32
From: Boston, Massachusetts
I will be running my 7th consecutive Boston Marathon as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team. I run and fundraise for Dana-Farber in support of my mother, Judi, and her battle against Leukemia (#JudiStrong). My mother has been battling Leukemia for over 25 years, having entered remission three times, but the disease has come back for a fourth time. Her battle has included a number of treatment options from chemotherapy to a bone marrow transplant to experimenting with cutting-edge medicines, many of which can be attributed to the ongoing research in cancer patient treatment. One hundred percent of the money raised for Dana-Farber goes directly to cancer research and patient care.
Since 2014, we’ve been able to raise over $55,000 in support of my mother for Dana-Farber!
