In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your #WhyImRunningBoston story here.

Name: Julie Rohnstock
Age: 26
From: Scituate, Massachusetts

Four years ago, I went into Boston with one of my friends to watch the marathon and cheer on the incredible runners as they approached Boylston street. As I stood and watched, inspired by their efforts to push themselves to run a whole 26.2 miles, I turned to my friend and said, “one day, I’m going to run it!” While this seemed like merely a dream at the time, I knew that this was my ultimate goal.

Several years later, I signed up for my first half marathon and began running whenever I could. Although I had played sports all my life, I had never been just a runner before. I spent much time researching nutrition, the best running shoes, timing, training, you name it! Flash forward, and here I am preparing for what I know will be the hardest, yet most rewarding run of my life. I can’t wait to cross that finish line in just 8 more weeks, all while supporting the Museum of Science! #JulesontheRun
