Re-watch the dramatic finish to the 2019 Boston Marathon men’s race
The 26.2-mile race came down to last few feet on Boylston Street
Lawrence Cherono just won one of the closest races in Boston Marathon history.
With an unofficial time of 2:07:57, the Kenyan runner outlasted two-time Marathon champion Lelisa Desisa in the men’s division of the 123rd edition of the race Monday. The 26.2-mile competition came down to the final stretch on Boylston Street, with the two runners jockeying for position before sprinting to a “photo finish.”

Cherono, who was slightly behind Desisa with a few blocks to go, pulled ahead within feet of the finish line as his rival appeared to lose steam. Desisa finished with an official time of 2:07:59, two seconds shy of Cherono.
