JT Peebles is prepping for his 7th straight Boston. He wants to hit at least 10 in a row.
"I have a goal of running at least 10 years in a row so I can tell my kids I ran a decade straight at Boston."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston on April 15, 2019.

My name is JT Peebles, but you’ll find me in the results under James T. Peebles. I’m a Newton Running Ambassador/Natural Form Coach and currently live in the Omaha, Nebraska area. I will return this April to race my seventh Boston Marathon in a row since 2013. I have a goal of running at least 10 years in a row so I can tell my kids I ran a decade straight at Boston.
The bombing year was my first time to race, and I love the city, the people, the energy, and the feel of race week. There is nothing like it anywhere else! When the most glorious experience in my running career changed to a day of tragedy I was tempted not to go back in fear of something terrible happening again. Then I had a change of heart. I realized I have to return to this great city to run Boston Strong and to run for those that can’t anymore. I have to run to exercise my freedom to be fully present in the moment and not live in fear of what might happen. I have to run to bring Glory to Jesus for guiding my life and my training.
I have made friends at this historic event that will last a lifetime. The motivation these friends provide year round is priceless. Every time I toe the line I go for an all-time personal record because so many great runners have already tested themselves on this tough course. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story, and I encourage anyone and everyone to do there best to qualify and experience this amazing event.
