Desiree Linden wasn’t the only American who did well in the 2018 Boston Marathon

American names were all over the men's and women's top 10.

While much of the attention in the aftermath of the 2018 Boston Marathon was rightfully on women’s champion Desiree Linden, she was far from the only American runner to finish high up in the standings.

On the women’s side, four of the top five runners represented the United States, with third place Krista Duchene of Canada being the only exception:

Shalane Flanagan finished seventh, while defending champion Edna Kiplagat was the only African runner to finish in the top 10:

On the men’s side, Galen Rupp’s decision to drop out of the race didn’t derail U.S. achievement in the top 10. While Japan’s Yuki Kawauchi and Kenya’s Geoffrey Kirui took first and second, American runners rounded out the top 5. Shadrack Biwott finished in third place:

And with two more Americans in sixth and 10th place, it meant half of the top ten were U.S. runners:
