Boston police commissioner completes his first Boston Marathon since the 2013 bombing
William Evans just ran the Boston Marathon for the 19th time.
Boston Police Commissioner William Evans made his return to the Boston Marathon as a runner on Monday, crossing the finish line for the first time since the 2013 bombing.

It was Evans’s 19th Boston Marathon and his 52nd overall.

At the finish line, Evans said it felt nice to get back onto the course and he had “no qualms” about the safety of the race four years after the bombing.
“I want people to know it’s back to normal,” he said. “I love running it, and if I’m back running it, it says everybody should run it.”

After a quick shower and change following his successful return to the marathon, Evans was back at the finish line, medal in hand.
